Professional Skills Training (PST)

MND’s Professional Skills Training provides comprehensive services emphasizing career planning, rapid placement, adequate wages, and long term job retention. Clients receive individual job coaching and support services, along with professional job readiness and soft skills including resume development, interviewing, dressing for success, and job search & placement assistance, with a minimum of one year of follow-up services as needed.

Maritime, Transportation, Distribution & Logistics (MTDL)

  • The MTDL program offers participants the skills and knowledge needed to secure employment in the Maritime, Transportation, Distribution and Logistics industries. MTDL offers a specialized three-week, 90 hour program which includes 2 years of post-completion/post-employment support.

Thirty hours of the program focus on industry-specific multimedia and field training. The program also includes sixty hours of job readiness training, reading, math, computer literacy, career and work-ethic assessments, completing a job application, interviewing skills, resume writing, and workshops on employer expectations. Through workplace visits at the Port of Baltimore and/or related industry sites and business networking opportunities with industry professionals, participants are equipped to confidently move forward in pursuit of their new career. 

Upon completion of this three week training, participants are exposed to the opportunity to take part in in a number of industry specific post-secondary certification programs including

  • Forklift Certification
  • OSHA 10
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS).

Commercial Transportation Careers (CTC)

The CTC program will provide an accessible entry point into this ever expanding job sector, helping clients earn valuable occupational credentials (CDL-B License) and gain access to stable, well-paid employment with Transdev and a variety of other employers in the region.  The training program is divided into three phases:

Phase 1: Training – 3 weeks (90 hours) of training divided into two learning modules (Intro to Commercial Transportation and Career Focus). Provides work ethic and customer service skills, and preparation for CDL Learner’s Permit Exam and ensuring physical fitness necessary for DOT Medical Card.

Resulting Credential: CDL Learners Permit and DOT Medical Card

Phase 2: Behind the Wheel Training with Employers – With CDL Learner’s Permit, candidates transition to behind-the-wheel driver training with various employer partners. At the culmination, successful candidates will take the CDL exam and acquire CDL-B commercial driver’s licenses with Passenger Endorsement and Air-Brake certification.

Resulting Credential: CDL-B w/ Passenger Endorsement and Air-Brake Certification

Phase 3: Employer Specific Safety and Operations Training – With CDL-B licensure including Passenger Endorsement and Air-Brake certification, candidates will be eligible for hire with local transportation providers. Those hired will generally transition to paid, employer-specific training that varies by length and compensation.

Result: Paid Work Experience and Long-Term Employment Opportunity

CTC training is provided are provided in both group and individual settings in MND’s offices located at 2700 North Charles St. in Baltimore and at employer sites within the Baltimore region.
