Helping Marylanders Secure Employment on a Path to a Living Wage
Maryland New Directions (MND) is a 50-year-old award winning non-profit organization offering no-cost employment coaching and specialized career training programs for Baltimore area residents, ages 18-60 years of age.
MND’s organizational philosophy including our intensive, industry-specific training and comprehensive supportive service model, including hard and soft skill training, individual case management and job coaching, career planning, and individual counseling are all designed to promote and support long-term job outcomes and self-sufficiency. MND’s hard and soft skill training provide both market value and market competency, not merely allowing our clients to secure high quality entry level work, but also providing them with the lasting soft skills they can rely upon to secure work for the rest of their careers. In addition to knowledge of the job market, MND also seeks to instill our clients with a deeper sense of themselves, helping them to discover their strengths, as well as the kinds of work that inspire them. Together, with the support of their job coaches, each MND client constructs an individual skill inventory and career plan, matching their future aspirations with a realistic appraisal of their desires, abilities, and proclivities.
As MND clients transition to work, MND’s entire complement of resources and supportive services continue for a minimum of one year, providing support for emergent challenges, as well as ongoing certification opportunities to help clients continue to build skills and further their careers. Together, MND’s approach to job training provides a foundation of skill, confidence, and ability, as well as the ongoing support individuals need to find lasting success in the job market and a true path to long-term self-sufficiency.
When a person successfully completes Maryland New Directions’ program they are empowered to obtain and retain employment; it’s not just good for the individual and their family, but for the whole community.
